Welcome to unzip.media!

Hey there! You've just found a brand new independent media publication — and I hope you'll stick around.

My name is Andrii Degeler, I'm a tech journalist and editor. I founded unzip.media as a place to unpack some of the most important stories in technology and beyond.

The publication is still in its infancy, and we're starting slow: you can expect one piece of long-form content to come out weekly, which can be either a podcast episode or a newsletter. On the podcast, I talk to journalists, reporters, writers, podcasters, data buffs, and much more — again, to unpack some of the most important stories there are. The newsletter is more of an opinion piece or reported story looking into something I've found interesting and important.

I'm always on the lookout for new topics and podcast guests, so any and all suggestions — together with feedback and comments — are welcome at andrii@unzip.media. Hit me up!

This week, check out the first episode of the video podcast where I interviewed Callum Booth, a freelance journalist and presenter. Together, we unpacked the “universal charger” directive that recently came into force across the EU, as well as discussed Callum's journey of “The Great Uncoupling,” in which he explores ways to be less dependent on his smartphone.

Unzip.media is an independent media outlet, which means that it's supported first and foremost by its readers, viewers, and listeners. If you like what I'm doing here, consider becoming a subscriber and/or topping up the tip jar below.

And of course, it'd mean the world to me if you shared unzip.media with your network. Discovery of new media can get tricky these days, but a sincere recommendation by a reader will always be the best thing that can happen to a journalist.

Once again, welcome to unzip.media — please do stick around and stay tuned for more great stuff!
